The Hortobágy Wild Animal Park is closed indefinitely from 8 March 2025 to prevent the foot- and mouth- disease epidemic.

The Hortobágy Wild Animal Park is situated among the natural conditions of the Hortobágy National Park. This is a perfect place for the demonstration of the ancient wildlife of the Hungarian Puszta. The Hortobágy Wild Animal Park presents some of the animals that lived here before the appearance of man, but were driven to extinction by the spread of civilization, eg. wolves, Przewalski's Horses, vultures and pelicans. Visitors can also see other wild animals still living in the protected areas such as wildcats, foxes, polecats, white-tailed eagles, common cranes and great white egrets. The wildlife park offers programs in which all generations can enjoy various pastime activities.
An exhibition about the ancient wildlife of the puszta and a souvenir shop with a buffet and a playground  are also available in the wild animal park.
The design of the outdoor enclosures offers excellent opportunities for photographers.

The large grazing animals can be observed closely during an extra safari program. Visitors can book a trip with a land rover with expert guidance to the wild horses and auroxes. The program is charged separately and lasts about 25 minutes, maximum 7 persons can join in one turn. The extra safari depends on the weather conditions.

• for smaller groups, families only in the souvenir shop of the Wild Animal Park

Opening hours:

* 1 November and between 22 December - 5 January 2026 the Wild Animal Park is closed.

Location: the vehicle of the wild animal park leaves from the Market place of Hortobágy villaget next to the Hortobágy Info. The vehicle runs into the wild animal park in every hour and returns every half an hour. The last service goes into the park 2 hours before closing time
