5. Trash it! – Volunteer for a cleaner Hungary
On 15-17th May 2015, the largest national volunteer movement takes action again.
Litter picking volunteers join a widespread spring cleaning all over the country. This movement is organized annually to fight the dirty landscapes and streets of our own environment. We would like to raise awareness about the innate need of cleanliness and hope that the movement will grow from year to year by new volunteers joining the action and, above all, by more and more people throwing their trash where it belongs – the bins! We aim at a cleaner country where litter picking is not needed any more.
Beside all this, we also hope to give a taste of volunteering. Since 2014, the ’Trash it!’ movement has been listed among other international volunteer actions as part of a Pan-European initiative called ’Let’s Clean Up Europe!’. The annual programme is financed by the EWWR LIFE+ project of the European Commission, whereby European citizens volunteer their contribution to litter picking on the very same weekend in May.

A sin the previous years, the Hortobágy National Park Directorate participates in the movement on several locations.
